Easily visible from afar, the small Manor of Bachelard with its corner towers, builts in 1661 during the reign of Louis XIV, stands proud in the midst of its lavish park and gardens. The rectangular structure of the building is flanked by two pigeon towers capped by two pointed roofs. Inside beckons a majestic stone staircase with its impressive wrought iron balustrade.
In an adjacent room the original chapel consecrated to Saint Nicholas is presently undergoing restoration.
The Bachelard Estate is situated along the banks of the Loire, the once accessible gorges now lying at the bottom or the dam of Villerest.
In 1957, the late Jacques Noirard, acquired the Estate which is now carefully managed by Daniela and Hervé Noirard who have opened theirs doors to a very selective clientele.

Although situated only 5 minutes from the centre of Roanne, the calm and serene location create an ideal environment ensuring complete relaxation. Partucularly appreciated by the guests are the walks along the banks of the Loire and around the lake set in the private 15 hectare estate (approx. 38 acres) as expressed with sincerity by guests, to quote but onr example "most enchanting".
The striking and varied landscapes of the Loire Department, its history and culinary diversity set the stage to guaranty the visitors a most pleasant stay in this authentic region, setting the stage to discovery of its many different facets.
